Drum - Northern Thunderbird by Trevor Hunt
Thunder bird is very important to the Kwakwaka’wakw,and Chilkat Peoples who in legendary times made a deal with the powerful supernatural bird, named for his habit of causing thunder and lightning. He is large and strong enough to hunt Killer Whale.
The drum is made from Elk hide measures 24 inches round 3 inches in depth, finished off with cedar bark rope.
