Mask - Pugwis with Blue Heron by Trevor Hunt C2011
Pugwis is a Kwakwaka’wakw undersea spirit in human form. Pugwis is depicted with a fish like face, round eyes in well defined round sockets, gills, prominent, rounded contours on the face; and two large, beaver-like front teeth. Sometimes bird sits on top of his head.
Carved from Red cedar beautifully painted and carved and finished off with cedar bark this mask measures 19 inches high by 24 1/2 inches wide and 12 inches in depth.
